Here we are at the KOA eating breakfast on our first day in Silver City, New Mexico.
This is called the Catwalk. It was built into the canyon near an old silver mine. It was later converted to a tourist area.
The boys are cooling off in the stream on our way to the top of the catwalk. The water was very cold.

On our second day in New Mexico, Jonah was working towards a National Junior Park Ranger badge. He had to close his eyes, and draw what he heard. It was pretty interesting to see the finished drawings.
You can see the Gila Cliff Dwellings in the background. This was really neat to see how the Indians lived long ago.

City of Rocks State Park was on our third day stop in New Mexico. One of the park ranger warned us about africanized bees around some of the rock formations. The boys and I were glad when Larry heard a bee fly by his head, and he decided that we should see the scenery from the van, instead of hiking. It was pretty hot that day, too.
This was the winding road from Silver City to Alamogordo. I was glad I wasn’t driving.
Micah and Jonah are surfing at White Sands National Park in New Mexico. The boys got sand all over them. They really had a lot of fun. It was extremely hot, so we don’t have any pictures of me (I stayed in the shade by a picnic table).

The next day, we went to see some petroglyphs at Three Rivers. They were very interesting.

On the sixth day, we went to Carlsbad Caverns. We decided not to see the bats (since we can see bats for free in Texas an hour away from where we live), but we hiked into the cave through the longer route. We are on the left of this picture.
