The end of Tax Season
Wednesday April 15th was the last day to file taxes. This season was so different from last year. Last year we had so many clients that had not filed in years, but because of the stimulus rebate, they filed. Yet, this year, it was pretty slow. Well, not at the beginning and the end, but in between. Wednesday, being our last day, we all worked 12 hours, and we were done by 7:30pm (yet last year - our last client didn't leave until after 11pm- big difference). Jonah just stayed with me at the office (by the way I was 30 minutes late getting him from school), but he had a good time playing with my manager's 6 year old daughter. Jonah and Jillian even got $10.00 from Tom (the boss) for helping around in the office. They even went with us to eat Mexican food. Yes, Tom invited all of us (along with our families). We had a very nice time talking, eating and saying goodbye until next season. For now I'm unemployed until Jan. 2 of next year when we start again.
Sound of Music Train Station
I came across this video on the Yahoo page and loved it. I thought it was very clever the way it was done. I hope that you can view it when you click the link below. I am not able to add a video to the post (I should say, I don't know how to add it - because I already tried and it didn't work). The boys loved it too, they love all the classic disney movies, so they were very interested to see it. Enjoy!!!!

Belated birthday
Yesterday Jonah and I went to an easter egg hunt, he had such a great time playing some games and finding lots of eggs. I spend most of the morning and afternoon baking cupcakes. Jonah decorated them. Micah baked a tres leches cake and decorated it too. There was a fundraiser for church for the cub scouts and boy scouts. The boys had to take a bake good to auction. Jonah's cubcakes sold for $35.00 and Micah's tres leches cake went for $34.00. This will help the boys with camp this summer.
So with the left over cupcakes, Jonah decorated some for my 42nd birthday, which was yesterday. But since we were so busy, the boys sang to me today. Happy birthday to my sister, Noni, too.Easter 2009
He had a good time coloring.
Can you see the paint in his hands, he was really trying not to get them dirty.
Jonah loves to show his happy face all the time. I can tell that Micah is getting older now, because when he came by the kitchen he just went by, not even looking at what Jonah had done. Even though, Jonah asked him to come and help him out.Prize cabbage
Jonah was given this small cabbage plant back in January. By the way it looked, I didn't think it would make. But Jonah thought different.
This is how it looked about 10 weeks later.
Here he is with his cabbage. He took it to school for a contest. His was the biggest one, therefore, winning first place. He was so excited after this, that he kept telling everyone about his cabbage. It was the big hit in school that day. He can't wait until it closes up to eat it.Sunday, April 5, 2009
Camping - Spring Break
The boys were off from school a week ago for spring break. Larry took the week off as well. I had to work for a few days, but we decided at the last minute to go camping to Lake Corpus Christi. We bought this tent last year on sale and this was our first time going camping with it. Micah was a big help putting it together.
Jonah also likes helping with the hammer.
Here is Jonah with Dad working hard. It took us almost two hours until we were done.
Of course Jonah had to take a break and went inside.
Here is Micah still working.
The next morning, Micah was taking it easy while Mom was cooking breakfast.
The boys had a great time flying a kite, the wind was very strong the night before (I think they got to be over 30 mph). The coat
This is a picture of Jonah with his new coat when he was in kindergarten. I always like to buy their coats big (trying to save a few bucks) so they can wear them a little longer. Here he is with Dad fishing.
Here he is wearing his coat when we went fishing again when he was in first grade.
But I think this time I over did it. This pretty much covers him entirely. We really loved the coat, but a size medium is a little too big (he still weighs 43 lbs). Jonah didn't think so. He wanted to wear it to school though. So, I'm afraid that this coming year I can't wait for sales and will have to spend a few more dollars to buy him a new coat so he can wear it in 4th grade.Jonah's awards
Jonah was awarded for the 2nd 9 weeks of school. He made the A and B honor roll, outstanding math student from his class, he had perfect attendance, citizenship award from his class and the cub award from his class too. This award his given to the most liked student in each class, the students vote thier own classmates (boy and girl), and they voted for Jonah this time. Congratulations Jonah!!! Keep up the good work.
